With Chillventa 2024 fast approaching, NaturalRefrigerants.com is highlighting exhibitors showcasing new and revamped HVAC&R CO2 (R744) and propane (R290) solutions at the three-day event.
The trade fair will be held in Nuremberg, Germany, from October 8–10 at the NürnbergMesse exhibition center.
The biennial event, launched in 2008, has become the leading global exhibition for HVAC&R and heat pump technologies. According to Chillventa organizers, over 30,500 visitors from 43 countries attended the 2022 event, with 843 companies exhibiting.
Over 1,000 companies have booked exhibition space in eight halls at this year’s event, with individual booths set by the hall number hyphenated with the space number.
NaturalRefrigerants.com has already featured several companies bringing natural refrigerant solutions to the trade fair, including Alfa Laval, Compact Kältetechnik, Enerblue, NDL, OLAB, Panasonic, Refra and SCM Frigo partnered with Fenagy.
Here are additional companies exhibiting CO2 and R290 HVAC&R products and services at the German event. A few will also participate in organized expert natural refrigerant presentations.
Advansor: The Danish OEM, exhibiting in Booth 9-528, provides CO2-based solutions for commercial and light industrial applications, with over 16,000 systems operating around the globe.
- Advansor will exhibit its new reversible plug-and-play CO2 heat pump for industrial applications. In a single frame, the unit simultaneously provides up to 600kW (170TR) of heating capacity and 400kW (114TR) of cooling, with the installation requiring only water and electrical connections.
- The company will also present its updated SteelXL industrial CO2 system, providing up to 4MW (1,137TR) of heating capacity and 1.8MW (512TR) of cooling. According to Advansor, the updated version cuts the original package length by a third and adds a new pipe design to support operational efficiency.
- “We have implemented advanced energy saving technologies such as low superheat, ultra-low superheat, ejectors, COP hunter and liquid power cooler, with energy savings up to 30%,” said Kenneth Bank Madsen, Technical Director at Advansor.

Arneg: The Italian-based OEM, exhibiting in Booth 9-426, manufacturers racks and display cabinets for retail applications.
- The company will exhibit three natural refrigerant products: a Cold Ring system using R290 refrigerant with a glycol loop for small- and medium-sized retail applications; a CO2 condensing unit with adaptability to multiple refrigeration requirements; and a transcritical Globo CO2 refrigeration system, combining medium- and low-temperature circuits on the same frame.
- According to Tiziana Raiteri, Marketing Director at Arneg, the company will showcase its new natural refrigerant Faro vertical refrigerated display cabinet with a built-in motor. The company has not yet announced the specific refrigerant used in Faro, but it has several R290 retail cases in its lineup.
Copeland: The U.S. component manufacturer will present its products for the first time as a stand-alone company at a global trade event in Booth 6-320. Last year, Blackstone Private Equity formed Copeland as part of the acquisition of a majority stake in the U.S.-based manufacturer Emerson’s Climate Technologies.
- The company will showcase its “first-ever” variable speed R290 compressor for commercial heat pumps launched earlier this year.
- Copeland will also exhibit its new Vitler-brand VQ95 industrial heat pump. The company said it was “designed to decarbonize” heating applications but did not specify the refrigerant used. Other Vitler-brand industrial-sized compressors use CO2 refrigerant.
- The manufacturer will exhibit its R290 horizontal scroll compressor for retail refrigeration plug-and-play installation and its CO₂ scroll compressor for transcritical applications.
- In a presentation on October 10 at 10 am in Booth 7A-129, Grant Kovac, Director of Project Management at Vitler, will discuss new industrial heat pump technologies, especially for high temperatures for district heating applications.

Embraco: Nidec Global Appliance, a multinational manufacturer with headquarters in Brazil, is exhibiting its refrigeration solutions for residential and commercial cold chain applications in Booth 7-130.
- The company will showcase and present case studies involving its recently launched Sync it All portfolio, which integrates Embraco’s refrigeration fan, controller and software interface with its variable speed R290 compressor for retail applications. By switching out fixed-speed compressors and applying the Sync it All technology, Embraco cut energy consumption by 13‒31% in three different applications.
- “This solution further reduces energy consumption, even for systems already powered by best-in-class [options],” said Daniel Campos, Head of the Commercial Appliances Business and Vice President at Nidec Global Appliance. “[Moreover], we made it easier and faster for customers to set the parameters to achieve these results.”
- In addition, the manufacturer will display its R290 monoblocs for top-mounted commercial refrigeration equipment and its new platform for isobutane (R600a) variable-speed compressor technology for home appliances.
Energy Recovery: The U.S. company, exhibiting in Booth 7A-270, manufactures the PX G1300 pressure exchanger. The unit won the Innovation of the Year award at the 2023 ATMOsphere America Summit. ATMOsphere is the publisher of NaturalRefrigerants.com.
- “We launched the PX G1300 at the last Chillventa and have since achieved incredible market response with several leading European brands using the technology,” said Ricardo Freitas, Vice President and General Manager of CO2 at Energy Recovery.
- In a presentation on October 9 in Booth 7A-638 at 12:20 pm, Darren Lacroix, Account Manager at Energy Recovery, will discuss how the unit supports R744 refrigeration systems in high ambient temperatures while outlining performance results from an Italian supermarket retrofit.
Enex Technologies: The Italian OEM, exhibiting in Booth 7-210, provides a full line of natural refrigerant solutions for HVAC&R applications, including ammonia, CO2, hydrocarbons and water (R718).
- The company will showcase a new CO2 rack for small-footprint applications and an adiabatic dry cooler for corrosive environments.
- On October 8 at 2:40 pm in Booth 7A-638, Massimiliano Sfragara, Product Management Director at Enex Technologies, will present refrigeration applications for low-charge ammonia chillers.
- On October 9 at 1:20 pm in Booth 4A-419, Giuseppe Pilone, HVAC Product Manager at Enex Technologies, will present the Everest model R290 heat pump.
- According to recently appointed CEO François Audo, Enex Technologies launches a new natural refrigerant product monthly.
Epta: The Italian OEM, exhibiting in Booth 7-332, produces CO2 and R290 refrigeration solutions for commercial applications.
- The company recently launched its fourth generation of CO2 transcritical solutions and marked the installation of its 3,000th CO2 system.
- Epta will showcase a “wide range” of natural refrigerant solutions, including self-contained R290 plug-in units and integral solutions with air or water condensation.

GTS Spa: As an LPG manufacturer, exhibiting in Booth 7-304, the Italian company produces refrigerant-grade hydrocarbons, including propane, isobutane and propylene (R1270).
- Paolo Zunino, CEO of GTS Spa, told NaturalRefigerants.com that the company has installed a solar plant at its Brazilian factory, which produces “high purity” R290 for heat pump applications. The company added a 1MW solar plant to its Italian factory earlier this year.
- Zunino will be on hand at Chillventa to discuss the company’s products along with Plant and Technical Director Davide Vattuone; Refrigerants and Pure Gases Sales Director Marco Dellera; and Propellant Gases Sales and Supply/Logistic Director Massimo Picollo.
- GTS Spa carries the ATMO Approved Natural Refrigerants Label, having obtained its initial approval in January 2024.

HB Products: The Danish manufacturer, exhibiting in Booth 5-108, develops and produces sensors for industrial and commercial refrigeration and heat pump systems.
- HB Products will present its Ice Bank Sensor as part of a showcase of its core products. In a case study, the unit controlled and maintained the desired ice thickness on cooling pipes in a dairy installation.
- “Since the ice bank sensor does not come into contact with the refrigerant, it works with all natural refrigerants, including ammonia and CO2,” Emily Marten, Communication Coordinator at HB Products, told NaturalRefrigerants.com.
- Henrik Kudsk, Product Manager, will lead interactive sensor demonstrations at HB Product’s booth. Other company experts at the event include owner Michael Elstrøm and his children working to take over the business, Camilla Elstrøm and Jonas Elstrøm, and International Sales Manager Rooba Sivagnanam.

Sanha: The German manufacturer exhibiting in Booth 5-113 produces refrigeration piping and fittings solutions.
- The company will showcase a new press system for applications up to 48bar (696psi) and solder fittings ReFHP rated up to 130bar (1,885psi) for use with transcritical CO2 operations, with temperature ratings from −196 to 150°C (−320 to 302°F).
- In addition, Sanha will present its NiroTherm stainless steel system for subcritical applications, including glycol loops and heating installations.
TEKO Refrigeration: The German manufacturer, exhibiting in Booth 6-310/410, produces CO2 chillers, heat pumps and racks.
- The company will premier its new CO2 Coolshift product line for heat pumps and chillers. “Developments in the field of CO2 systems are continuously advancing,” TEKO told NaturalRefrigerants.com, inviting event attendees to receive “exclusive” insights into the Coolshift line from TEKO experts.
- It will also present its latest ROXSTA CO2 rack models for industrial and large-format applications.
- TEKO carries the ATMO Approved Natural Refrigerants Label, having obtained its initial approval in August 2022. It was reapproved for the second time in February 2024.

Sanhua: As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, the global provider of HVAC&R components and controls will exhibit in Booth 7A-328.
- The company will showcase new R290 products, including a solution for water loop systems and its S65 Series brazed plate heat exchanger optimized for propane heat pump applications.
- Sahua also indicates it will display a range of components for R744 racks and condensing units.
Area Cooling Solutions: The Polish manufacturer of CO2 condensing units, newly acquired by Japanese Panasonic, will exhibit in Booth 7A-129.
- The company will display its inverter iCOOL SE CO2 condensing unit series, which, according to a LinkedIn post, offers 2.5‒6.5kW (0.7‒1.8TR) cooling capacities in a medium-temperature range from −10 to 32°C (14 to 89.6°F).
Inficon: The German-based company, exhibiting in Booth 8-412, manufactures leak detection devices for numerous industries, including the HVAC&R sector.
- At Chillventa, Inficon will present its new multi-gas sniffer leak detector Ecotec 4000, which detects up to four different refrigerant gases simultaneously and offers a 180° rotation on the sniffing line for easy transition from robotic to manual detection.
- According to Inficon, the detector can identify leaks of R600a down to 0.05g per year.
- The company will also exhibit a fully automated leak detection system with 3D image recognition and its new sniffling line SL3000EX, suitable for flammable natural refrigerants.
