During an exclusive factory tour, Vladyslav Tsyplakov, Business Development Director at Mirai Intex ‒ a Czech Republic-based manufacturer of ultra-low-temperature systems – highlighted the precision manufacturing of the company’s air-cycle turbo compressors.

“For the rotor to spin, our centrifugal compressor has tight tolerances between the impeller and the volute,” Tsyplakov told Jan Dusek, ATMOSphere’s COO. “Using a high-class measuring system, we manufacture components within an accuracy of 2µm.” ATMOsphere is the publisher of NaturalRefrigerants.com.

Original products: Mirai Intex manufactures closed- and open-cycle refrigeration systems using compressed air, with an outlet temperature range from −110 to −40°C (−166 to −40°F).

  • The closed cycle supports secondary fluid circulation and comes in capacity sizes ranging from 10‒150kW (2.8‒42.7kW).
  • The open cycle supplies cold air directly into a room without evaporators or auxiliary fans, with single unit capacities ranging from 10‒22kW (2.8‒6.3TR).

Mirai X Cryo: The company’s new air-cycle chiller reaches temperatures down to −160°C, with capacity sizes ranging from 10‒20kW (2.8‒5.7TR).

  • “Our latest system, Mirai X Cryo, is the most versatile and environmentally friendly in the industry,” Tsyplakov says in a LinkedIn post. “It has generated significant interest across multiple sectors, including semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and food industries.”
  • Besides generating cold temperatures, a heating function in the unit supports up to 90°C (194°F) outlet temperatures.
  • The chiller won the RAC (Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning) Cooling Industry’s 2024 Refrigeration Innovation of the Year award.

R290 turbo compressor: Last spring, Mirai Intex finished stress testing what it called the “world’s first” propane (R290) turbo compressor.

  • At Chillventa 2024, Tsyplakov told NaturalRefrigerants.com that the German hydrocarbon chiller manufacturer Secon will be the first company to test the new technology and could integrate it into its product lineup in 2025.
  • Mirai Intex’s MT230 R290 model has a cooling capacity of 230kW (65TR), and the MT350’s is 350kW (100TR).

Quotable: “Mirai Intex leverages advanced air cycle technology, also known as the reverse Brayton cycle with recuperator, to deliver efficient and eco-friendly cooling solutions,” the company says on its website. “Synchronous motors with inverter control allow [our] systems to adjust RPM steplessly, ensuring optimal efficiency and precise part-load operation.”
