U.S. component manufacturer Copeland has announced the release of a new tracking system that leverages 4G/5G cellular technology and Wi-Fi to deliver real-time data for companies shipping products within the cold chain.

The GO real-time 4G/5G-NA tracker can monitor in-transit conditions such as temperature within 15m (49.2ft) of positioning accuracy for up to 20 days.

“Improvements to location accuracy drive enhanced insight to shipments,” said Amy Childress, Global Vice-President of Monitoring, Cold Chain, for Copeland. “Whether customers are transporting food, healthcare items or other valuable cargo, our technology enables our customers’ shipments to be delivered at the highest possible quality.”

Oversight, a cloud-based online software platform from Copeland, enables the tracker to be configured to notify users in real-time if any deviation of temperature-sensitive conditions arise during shipment, the company said. Automated reporting is generated through the Oversight dashboard and mobile app, which can send users real-time alerts via text and email.

Users can view current maps, graphs and charts of key shipments, including temperature, security and location details.  Shipment summary reports include additional details such as mean kinetic temperature and time above or below range.

Copeland also helps customers reduce the number of devices and batteries that end up in landfills via the company’s GO GreenSense recycling program. The program provides customers with eco-friendly return boxes, pre-paid postage labels and any required battery shipment notification labels.

In March, Copeland launched the production of its first Vilter-branded industrial CO2 (R744) compressor unit, which uses single-screw compressors for transcritical applications, subcritical applications or both.

“Whether customers are transporting food, healthcare items or other valuable cargo, our technology enables our customers’ shipments to be delivered at the highest possible quality.”
