Spanish manufacturer INTEGASA is working on a 7MW (1,990TR) ammonia (R717) spray chiller for ammonia heat pumps in a district heating network in Denmark. It is the first of six chillers that the company is manufacturing for two heat pumps with capacities of 25MW (7,109TR) and 20MW (5,687TR), respectively.
The heat pumps use wastewater for heat recovery. INTEGASA said the chillers can operate with an “exceptionally low ammonia charge,” thanks to their spray chiller technology.
Each chiller measures 1.8 meters (5.91 feet) in diameter and features 8-meter (26.2 feet)-long titanium tubes. Additionally, the units incorporate an integrated suction gas heat exchanger, which reheats the ammonia vapour and improves system efficiency, according to the manufacturer.
