Italian manufacturer Euroklimat brought a propane (R290) heat pump to Chillventa 2026 equipped with a factory-built skid that integrates a hydraulic separator, pumps, controls and a system that detects propane leaking into the water circuit. The skid is designed to simplify heat pump retrofits of boilers in commercial and residential buildings by allowing each side of the system to run at its optimal flow rate.
Boiler systems are designed for a large delta T between supply and return water and a low flow rate, so buildings heated by boilers typically have smaller-diameter pipes. Heat pumps need a much higher flow rate with a small delta T. The separator decouples the two circuits: the heat pump circulates its own high-flow loop, while the building’s existing pipework continues to carry the lower flow it was designed for, avoiding the need to replace it.
