Chillventa 2024: Temprite Seeing Increased Demand for CO2 Components in District Heating and Other Larger Systems

The U.S.-based component manufacturer is seeing demand for R744 grow on both sides of the Atlantic.

Temprite, a U.S. manufacturer of oil management products for HVAC&R systems, has said it is seeing a growing demand for larger CO2 (R744)-based HVAC&R applications, driven predominantly by the district heating sector.

“There is a lot of talk about CO2 over here in Europe, and now we see it coming to the U.S.,” Steven Weisheit, Sales Representative at Temprite, told NaturalRefrigerants.com in an interview at the Chillventa 2024 tradeshow. “We just see systems getting bigger and bigger. We see demand for district heating systems increasing.”

Chillventa 2024 took place October 8–10 in Nuremberg, Germany.

Larger separators for larger systems

As noted by Weisheit, CO2 is now being adopted by a variety of HVAC&R sectors – from small convenience stores to large industrial applications. To meet the needs of its customers, Temprite has developed a broad product portfolio.

In 2023, the component manufacturer announced the launch of its largest transcritical CO2 coalescent oil separator, the Model 439A, to meet growing demand for larger systems.

Temprite’s 439A separator was on display at Chillventa 2024 on the Fenagy booth in one of the Danish OEM’s CO2 heat pumps. Two Temprite oil separators are also included in Fenagy’s 3MW (853TR) CO2 racks.

According to Weisheit, Italian manufacturer SCM Frigo and German manufacturer Christof Fischer were also displaying Temprite products in their systems at the tradeshow.

Temprite has been working with CO2 for nearly 20 years, said Weisheit, attributing its success to the quality and reliability of its products.

In recognition of its efforts, Temprite received the ATMO Approved Natural Refrigerants Label for the third time earlier this year. The label, awarded by ATMOsphere, publisher of NaturalRefrigerants.com, is designed to help qualified manufacturers to market products to new customers and regions in the natural refrigerants marketplace. It also aims to help end users identify best-in-class suppliers.
