Evalift+, a new product launched by Germany-based Teko Refrigeration, controls CO2 (R744) superheat in refrigeration racks to improve system efficiency by up to 25%, said Jonas Linnemann, a CO2 Industrial Application Specialist at the company.

The unit comes in a standalone package, providing a retrofit solution to existing transcritical CO2 systems with a TECO2nditioner heat exchanger. Teko manufactures transcritical CO2 systems for industrial and commercial applications.

“This is our solution for semi-flooded systems,” Linnemann told Marc Chasserot, Founder and CEO of ATMOsphere at Chillventa 2024. “It controls the superheat inside the rack rather than in the cabinets to increase efficiency.” ATMOsphere is the publisher of NaturalRefrigerants.com. Chillventa ‒ held October 8‒10 in Nuremberg, Germany ‒ is one of the world’s largest HVAC&R trade shows.

According to the product brochure, the components contained in the Evalift+ include an ejector, a 172L liquid separator and Teko’s intelligent control system.

“Compared to ejectors, Evalift+ works independently all year long to increase suction pressure, creating a lift for the compressors,” Linnemann said, adding that it also works for low-temperature (LT) applications.

In medium-temperature (MT) and LT booster systems, the unit increases cooling efficiency with no special requirements for the oil system or installation expertise, Teko said. “Evalift+ extends CO2 system lifespan and improves operational stability and safety, with suitability to all climate zones and operations.”

According to Linnemann, the unit, available globally, is a proven solution already built into Teko’s line of ROXSTA racks.

“This solution for semi-flooded systems controls the superheat inside the rack.”
