CCR’s Entire CO₂ Gas Cooler Range Now Rated at 130bar

When ambient conditions exceed 38°C, the new units increase cooling capacity by up to 20% compared to the 120bar system, the company said.

CCR Commercial Refrigeration, a supplier of commercial and industrial turnkey CO2 (R744) refrigeration systems and services, has announced that as of July 15, its entire range of CO2 gas coolers will be manufactured to operate at 130bar (1,885psi).

“As temperatures get higher each year, performance and reliability under extreme conditions have never been more crucial,” CCR said. “That’s why we are proud to announce [this] major evolution.”

The company, headquartered in Germany, installs CO2 cabinets, racks and other heating and cooling equipment under the brands Carrier Commercial Refrigeration (licensed by Carrier Corporation), Profroid, Celsior and Green & Cool.

Improved operation: In ambient temperatures above 38°C (100.4°F), the 130bar-rated rack increases cooling capacity by 20% compared to a 120bar (1,740psi) CO2 system, CCR said, with a COP increase of up to 18%.

  • A 130bar system increases robustness and safety, without the need for adiabatic cooling, according to the company.

Equipment/capacities: CCR supplies CO2 gas coolers, racks and condensing units, with capacities ranging from 10kW (2.8TR) to beyond 1MW (284TR).

  • The company’s QuietCO2OL, MiniCO2OL, MaxiCO2OL, GC5 coolant distribution unit, PowerCO2OL, CO2 Soprano, CO2 Alto, CO2 Tenor and Centrifugal CO2 Soprano/Tenor are now available at 130bar.
  • The 130bar-rated gas cooler comes with no change in system tonnage size, price or spare parts, according to CCR.
  • The QuietCO2OL remains available in a 120bar version.

Additional options: Other manufacturers produce gas coolers rated to or beyond 130bar, including Güntner and Enex Technologies.

Quotable: “Whether you’re planning new installations or looking to strengthen existing ones, this step forward ensures your refrigeration stays efficient, sustainable, and ready for tomorrow’s climate challenges,” CCR said.

“As temperatures get higher each year, performance and reliability under extreme conditions have never been more crucial.”
