Eight companies that have received the ATMO Approved Natural Refrigerants Label for 2024 will be exhibiting at Chillventa.
ATMOsphere (formerly shecco), the publisher of NaturalRefrigerants.com, launched the label in June 2022 as a global gold standard highlighting best-in-class manufacturers of natural refrigerant systems and components around the world. The eight companies that have received the label for 2024 and will be at Chillventa are:
- Hydrocarbon producer and distiller GTS: located in hall 7 at booth 304
- CO2 (R744) transcritical rack and propane (R290) heat pump and chiller manufacturer Refra: located in hall 7A at booth 440
- CO2 refrigeration systems manufacturer SCM Frigo and industrial CO2 and hydrocarbon heat pump manufacturer Fenagy: both will be sharing booth 440 in hall 7
- Hydrocarbon chiller manufacturer Secon: located in hall 7A at booth 559
- CO2 refrigeration systems manufacturer TEKO: located in hall 6 at booth 310
- Oil separator and transcritical CO2 receiver manufacturer Temprite: located in hall 7A at booth 128
- Ammonia (R717) industrial refrigeration systems designer and manufacturer Zudek: located in hall 7 at booth 428
“Since we launched ATMO Approved two years ago, more than 80 companies have applied, and only 18 have been approved,” said Marc Chasserot, ATMOsphere’s CEO and Founder. “End users and contractors should make time to visit these ATMO Approved companies as they will be great partners in helping you deliver on a natural refrigerants’ future.”
The ATMOsphere label is designed to help qualified manufacturers to market products to new customers and regions in the natural refrigerants marketplace, including products using CO2, ammonia and propane. In addition, the label is meant to help end users identify best-in-class suppliers.
TEKO, Temprite, Secon and Zudek have been approved for the ATMO Approved Natural Refrigerants Label three times, from 2022 to 2024. SCM Frigo and Fenagy have been approved for the label twice, in 2023 and 2024. GTS and Refra both were both approved for the first time in 2024.
Three pillars, new criteria
To qualify for an ATMOsphere label, manufacturers have to demonstrate excellence across three pillars:
- Company vision
- Customer satisfaction (measured via testimonials from multiple end users confirming the reliability, performance and service of these companies and products)
- Measurable impact
“Companies not only need to have the vision to work with natural refrigerants but must also deliver projects that satisfy customers, end users and contractors,” said Chasserot. “They must work with various types of applications, have a variety of units on the market and proactively provide training for their partners, contractors and staff on natural refrigerants.”
Training criteria was first included for the 2024 edition of the label. Another 2024 label criterion centers around per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), such as trifluoroacetic acid (TFA).
“The 2024 label criteria around PFAS acknowledges what companies are doing to ensure they are PFAS-free,” Chasserot said. “ATMO Approved companies have the vision and leadership required to navigate the market today and help [companies] move away from PFAS and global-warming synthetic alternatives,” he added.
