Danish OEM Advansor has launched an upgrade of its CO2 (R744)-based ValuePack refrigeration unit, raising the standard operating pressure to 130bar (1,885psi).

The unit previously had a standard pressure design of 120bar (1,740psi). According to Advansor, the enhancement facilitates higher cooling capacities and improves operational efficiency and safety.

“We are excited to introduce the ValuePack upgrade, which not only enhances the existing capabilities of our widely regarded ValuePack family but also opens new doors for various industries,” said Kristian Breitenbauch, Advansor CEO. “This solution reflects our commitment to providing innovative and sustainable refrigeration and heating solutions that meet the diverse needs of our customers.”

New markets: The higher operating pressure makes the ValuePack, often used for food retail, now suitable for cold storage and light industrial applications, too.

  • The upgrade allows the placement of seven compressors to provide up to 139kW (39.5TR) of cooling capacity, 30kW (8.5TR) of freezing, 141kW (40.1TR) of heating and 25kW (7.1TR) of air-conditioning in a single footprint.
  • Advansor offers several energy-saving options on the unit, including connected double controllers, cylinder unloading technology and low superheat.
  • It is available to order, according to the company.

CO2 training: With the EU F-gas regulation adopted in February 2024, Advansor seeks to support HVAC&R professionals in acquiring the necessary skills to implement CO2 solutions with an updated training program, including a free online option.

  • The nine free modules cover the basics and advanced functionalities of CO2 heat pumps and refrigeration equipment, including installation, startup, heat recovery, low-temperature systems and low superheat options.
  • Each one-hour training session is available in Danish, English, French, German, Polish, Spanish and Swedish. Participants can complete modules individually or enroll in a spring or autumn program.
  • “The popularity of these modules reflects the industry’s commitment to transitioning to natural refrigerants and the necessity for comprehensive training in the field,” said Michael Jensen, After Sales Manager at Advansor.

Focus on CO2: The company manufactures only CO2 equipment, including chillers, coolers, heat pumps and refrigeration racks.

  • Before releasing the enhanced ValuePack, Advansor produced over 5,000 of the previous unit, citing its popularity among food retail customers.
  • At Chillventa 2024, the company introduced a large-scale plug-and-play CO2 heat pump capable of simultaneously providing heating and cooling, with heating capacities from 300 to 700kW (85 to 199TR) and cooling from 200 to 400kW (57 to 114TR).
  • As of September 2023, the company has provided 100 CO2 racks to 30 European distribution centers, according to Anders Mønsted, Business Development Manager for Advansor’s industry segment.

Quotable: “One of the most severe challenges to speeding up the green transition is the lack of skilled workers on site,” Breitenbauch said. “Therefore, we do as much as possible in the factory ‒ all components are calculated, tested and validated individually and together, and all controllers are pre-programmed, with the whole solution CE [European Conformity]-marked and I/O [input/output] tested.”
