Kristian Strand has been named as the new President of Danfoss Climate Solutions, a Denmark-based manufacturer of HVAC&R components and systems.

Strand, who currently serves as the company’s Divisional President of Commercial Compressors, will take over as President from April 1, 2025, upon the retirement of current President Jürgen Fischer. Strand will also join the Danfoss Group Executive Team.

“Kristian brings a wealth of experience and strong business results from his previous roles and shares our ambition and passion for the climate solutions business,” said Kim Fausing, President and CEO of Danfoss, in a company statement about the appointment. “He will ensure continuity and, together with the Danfoss Climate Solutions team and our customers, take the business to the next level.”

Prior to his current role, Strand served as the company’s Divisional President of Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Controls. He has also played a significant role in the Climate Solutions Leadership Team, driving segment strategy and performance, the company noted.

“I’m honored to succeed Jürgen and to lead this exceptional team,” said Strand. “I look forward to working together with the Danfoss Climate Solutions team to continue driving the business forward.”

Fischer, who joined Danfoss in 2008 as Vice President of Industrial Automation, has held various leadership positions within the company’s cooling divisions and formed its Climate Solutions segment in 2020.

“Under his leadership, Danfoss Climate Solutions has transformed to build a large and leading global position in energy-efficient cooling and heating solutions for industrial applications, buildings, infrastructure, and the entire food and cold chain,” said Danfoss.

“I would like to thank Jürgen for his dedication, strong leadership and great contribution to Danfoss and Danfoss Climate Solutions over these past 16 years,” said Fausing. “We wish Jürgen all the best for the future and Kristian every success in his new role.”

Expanding NatRefs portfolio

While Danfoss has been working with CO2 (R744) in commercial refrigeration since 2006, the company has been expanding its natural refrigerant offering, with several product launches and the acquisition of CO2 compressor manufacturer BOCK.

Today, the company’s HVAC&R product lineup includes its iCO2 condensing unit, controllers for transcritical CO2 racks and shut-off valves for ammonia (R717) industrial refrigeration systems.

One of its newest products, the BOCK HGX56 CO2 T compressor, was recently named the winner of the 2025 AHR Expo Innovation Award for the refrigeration category. The six-cylinder compressor is designed for use in industrial and commercial refrigeration applications as well as large heat pumps.

The company has also made news in the propane (R290) residential heat pump sector following the presentation of its prototype water-to-water residential propane heat pump for indoor installations at Chillventa 2024. The unit, which could function as a standalone heat pump or a booster in a multi-family building, has a refrigerant charge of just 130g, a heating capacity of 4.71kW (1.34TR) and a COP of 3.85.

Danfoss also offers a range of scroll compressors for commercial propane heat pumps covering capacities of 20–200kW (5.7–56.9TR).
