ATMOsphere has issued a call for natural refrigerant case studies for ATMO America 2026

ATMOsphere, publisher of NaturalRefrigerants.com, has issued a call for clean-cooling and -heating case studies to be presented at the ATMOsphere (ATMO) America Summit 2026, which will be held June 2–3 in New York City.

Case studies must include real-life installations and feature natural refrigerants, such as CO2 (R744), hydrocarbons, ammonia (R717) or water (R718). For the first time, ATMOsphere is also accepting case studies on refrigerant-free caloric heating and cooling technologies. Case studies from the following industries are encouraged:

  • Commercial and industrial  refrigeration
  • Heat pumps
  • Commercial HVAC
  • Caloric cooling
  • Other innovative applications

Projects should be relevant to the North American market and be co-presented with an end user or affiliated contractor. For caloric cooling case studies, end-user or installer participation is preferred but not mandatory.

Case studies must highlight the installation’s sustainability, replicability, originality and tangibility. Preference will be given to case studies that include efficiency and cost analyses. Each presentation will be allocated a maximum of 10–12 minutes followed by three minutes for audience questions.

Case studies must be submitted by March 2 using the template provided. Details on how to submit a case study can be found here. Case study presenters receive a 50% discount on the standard conference pass, and end users and contractors receive a free conference pass.

Registration for ATMO America 2026 is now open, and an early bird discount of $250 (€215) is available until January 25.

A first for ATMO America

The ATMO America Summit is in its 15th year, and for the first time ever the event will feature presentations from caloric heating and cooling companies. Caloric technology, while still in its infancy, offers a glimpse into the future of sustainable heating and cooling, one that doesn’t require refrigerants. Magnetocaloric, electrocaloric and elastocaloric materials heat up when introduced to an electrical field or mechanical stress, while removing the field or stressors allows them to cool down. Elastocaloric technology was named one of the World Economic Forum’s “Top 10 Emerging Technologies” of 2024.

Caloric cooling and heating companies presented at the 2025 ATMO Europe Summit, held in Padua, Italy, in November. One of the companies that took the stage, MAGNOTHERM, won the ATMO Award Europe in the Innovation of the Year/Refrigeration category for ECLIPSE, a refrigerant-free cooling technology that uses the magnetocaloric effect for solid-state refrigeration.

Event details

ATMO America 2026 will be held at the Westchester Marriott. In addition to technology case studies, the event will also discuss market trends and the latest policy developments related to PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) and f-gas regulations in the United States. There will also be opportunities for networking, including after the first day when an evening drinks reception will be held at the venue.

The platinum sponsor of ATMO America 2026 is Hillphoenix, and the gold sponsors are Copeland, Hussman and Kysor Warren. Those interested in sponsoring the event can find more information here and contact ATMOsphere’s Partnership Manager Silvia Scaldaferri at silvia.scaldaferri@shecco.com.
