Danish component manufacturer Danfoss has launched a new line of oil separators and receivers for transcritical CO2 (R744) systems, rated at a maximum working pressure of 140bar (2,030psi).
Suitable for CO2 chillers, heat pumps and refrigeration systems, the new OUB line spans capacities from 89 to 1,400kW (25.3 to 398.1TR) and is available in both serviceable and hermetic models. Tested to a pressure of 200.2bar (2,903psi), the steel vessels are rated for refrigerant temperatures from 10 to 150°C (14 to 302°F).
“With OUB, we’re giving OEMs a technically advanced oil management solution that integrates seamlessly into high-pressure CO2 systems,” said Mark Sever, Global Solutions Expert at Danfoss. “It’s engineered for reliability, serviceability and long-term performance in demanding applications.”
Serviceable models: The OUB-TS separators filter oil particles down to 0.3 microns (µm) using a three-stage coalescing design that promotes progressive droplet growth.
- The range includes OUB-TSR models with an integrated receiver and OUB-TSN models without a receiver.
- With a high-strength, clog-resistant design, the 3,300cm2 (512in2) filter supports “extended service intervals,” according to Danfoss.
- The OUB-TS line is available in eight sizes, covering CO2 systems capacities from 89 to 1,400kW.
Hermetic units: The OUB-THR model is a fully sealed maintenance-free option that includes an integrated receiver. It uses mechanical demister technology to separate oil particles from the refrigerant stream in the 3‒10µm range.
- The line is available in five sizes, covering CO2 system capacities from 89 to 420kW (25.3 to 119.4TR).
Hydrocarbon news: Danfoss debuted its new oil-free isobutane (R600a) Turbocor compressor, with a maximum cooling capacity of 385kW (109TR), at the March 24–27 Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) 2026 trade show in Milan.
- Designed for air-cooled chiller applications, the compressor targets HVAC and data center cooling, Frank Ford, Head of Sales and Marketing at Danfoss, told NaturalRefrigerants.com.
- In data center applications, the unit can deliver up to 500kW (142TR) of cooling capacity due to higher chilled–water temperatures.
- “Some data center customers continue to talk about natural [refrigerants],” Ford said, adding that, with multiple compressors, Trubocor can support chiller capacities of up to 2MW (568TR).
Quotable: “OUB integrates seamlessly with our complete oil management ecosystem, including COM oil management controls, level sensors, filter driers and valves,” Danfoss said.
