AKVP – Electric Expansion Valve

The AKV 10P and AKV 10PS are electric-operated expansion valves, designed for use in refrigeration systems, offering precise control over liquid injection into evaporators. Typically, these valves are paired with Danfoss’ ADAP-KOOL® controllers, ensuring efficient and reliable operation.

The valves are available as part of a program, which includes a separate valve, coil with terminal box or cable, and spare parts such as the upper part, orifice, and filter. Both the orifice and piston assemblies are replaceable, providing flexibility for service and maintenance.

Key features include robust construction for long-term reliability, low leakage risk, and solenoid tight closure when power is cut. When paired with the ADAP-KOOL® suite, these valves can support system energy optimization, remote monitoring, fault detection, and adaptive defrosting, all contributing to enhanced system performance.
The valves are compatible with CO₂ and almost all other refrigerants. A key safety consideration is the application of these valves with flammable refrigerants, requiring compliance with relevant standards such as ATEX, EN 378, and ISO 5149.

Technically, the AKV 10P and AKV 10PS operate on Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and offer a regulation range from 10-100% capacity. They have a recommended cycle time of 6 seconds and an evaporating temperature range of -60 to 60°C. With a maximum working pressure of 90 bar (1305 psig), the valves are designed for a wide array of applications.
