Maciel succeeds Jay Pittas, who served as CEO from December 2021 and has been Chairman of the Board since April 2020. Pittas will continue in his role as Chairman of the Board on a full-time basis, “dedicating his wealth of experience to guide the company at the board level,” Tecumseh added.
“It has been an honor to lead Tecumseh as CEO and Chairman,” said Pittas. “Now, I am excited to fully dedicate myself to the board activities, and I am confident in the future success of Tecumseh. I believe Ricardo is well-equipped to lead our organization into the future.”
According to the Ann Arbor, Michigan-based manufacturer, Pittas’ leadership has been “instrumental in steering Tecumseh towards success,” and it expressed gratitude for his support and collaboration to date.
Working in collaboration with the company’s customers and partners, Maciel said he plans “to build on the strong legacy” established by Pittas to lead the company “into its next phase of growth and innovation.”
With an extensive range of propane (R290)-based compressors for light-commercial refrigeration, Tecumseh has also developed natural refrigerant-based components for new applications, such as cooling and refrigeration for electric vehicles and ice cream machines. The company has also previously shared plans to expand into the R290 heat pump market with a new rotary compressor that is under development.
