The Clean Fight New York, a not-for-profit accelerator helping growth-stage climate-related technology companies, is seeking applications from companies offering decarbonization solutions for food warehousing, distribution and retailing in New York State, including low-GWP natural refrigerant systems.

The program is offering up to $100,000 (€91,000) per company for deployments or first-of-a-kind projects in New York State and up to $25,000 (€22,800) to support capacity building (though funds are not guaranteed).

The program also provides assistance navigating the New York market from top regulators, utilities and industry experts. From eight to12 companies will be selected and participation in the program will take place from May 2024 to October 2024.

The deadline to register is January 16; register here. Full applications are due January 29.  More information is available here and here.

“Our goal is to help growth-stage companies from around the world scale in New York, at speed,” says The Clean Fight New York on its website. “We do this by helping you to build deep relationships with customer and capital partners who can facilitate your rapid growth.”

The program is targeting companies with approximately $1 million (€910,000) in annual revenue and solutions that have “proven efficacy and impact, along with clear signs of market adoption.” Presence in the U.S. is not required but companies that secure contracts as a result of the program must be willing to establish a presence in New York State.

Areas of particular interest include clean refrigeration equipment and monitoring (including low-GWP refrigeration), HVAC and heat recovery, cold chain and refrigerated transportation, building energy efficiency, onsite renewables and energy storage. “We’re interested in solutions across the value chain, although we are not focused on agriculture and food production,” says the program.

“Customer collaborators” in the program include Walmart, Carrier, Con Edison and NYC/EDC (Economic Development Corporation). The program is supported by New Energy Nexus, NYSERDA, the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Commerce.

This fourth edition of The Clean Fight will be focused on food warehousing, distribution and retail solutions with “high [greenhouse gas] impact, cost efficiency, and a clear path to scalability, that can help the tight-margined food service industry transition effectively into the clean economy,” the program says.

“Our goal is to help growth-stage companies from around the world scale in New York, at speed.”
