Italy-based HVAC&R manufacturer Enex Technologies has launched a new industrial V-shaped dry cooler with cooling capacities from 0.2 to 2.5MW (57 to 711TR) designed for industrial applications.

The unit, available in over 400 models, offers flexible design options, including four fan sizes, copper or stainless-steel tubing and a selection of fin materials and surface treatments. For heat rejection, it can be used in combination with Enex Technologies’ water cooled chillers, including those with natural refrigerants, or as a stand-alone cooling system providing free cooling. It operates with pure water or brine mixtures.

“We can offer 2.5MW of cooling in a 30m2 [98ft2] package that ships on a standard low loader truck,” said Oscar Leon, Heat Exchange Division Product Manager at Enex Technologies. “After launching the cooler three months ago, we’ve received hundreds of quote requests from customers.”

Leon outlined the new dry cooler in an interview with Marc Chasserot, CEO and Co-Founder of ATMOsphere, at Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) 2026. The event was held March 24‒27 in Milan. ATMOsphere is the publisher of NaturalRefrigerants.com. Enex designs and manufactures refrigeration systems, heat pumps and chillers using natural refrigerants, including ammonia (R717), CO2 (R744), propane (R290) and water (R718).

The details: The unit is equipped with EC fan motors as standard, with configurations optimized for thermal load, site-specific constraints and climate conditions.

  • Enex offers the unit in four axial fan sizes: 800mm (31.5in) diameter for low noise levels, 870mm (34.3in) for high-capacity and high performance, 910mm (35.8in) for low noise and high efficiency and 960mm (37.8in) for ultra high performance, according to Leon.
  • It comes with copper or stainless steel tubing in two diameters: 12mm and ⅝in.
  • Designed for a maximum working pressure of 10bar (145psi), the unit is pressure-tested to 12bar (174psi) and features a burst pressure of 90bar (1,310psi).

Performance and durability: The V-shaped geometry of the new unit, with a height of 3m (9.8ft), increases heat rejection capacity by up to 50% compared to standard V-shaped units, with a height of 2.5m (8.2ft), and by up to 100% compared to flat designs, Enex said. It added that the unit is adiabatic-ready, with pad systems scheduled for release later in 2026.

  • “Equipped with EC fans as standard, the unit achieves up to 30% energy savings compared to equivalent units using AC fans,” Enex said.
  • Compared to existing dry cooler ranges, the geometry, air flow and adiabatic system may generate up to four times higher COPs, the company remarked.
  • A floating finned pack protects the coils from mechanical stress during transportation and accommodates thermal expansion. A side inspection door simplifies maintenance operations.

Cooperation benefits: As part of its efforts to accelerate the transition to natural refrigerants and high efficiency solutions, Enex Technologies challenges itself to produce one new product a month, according to Product Management Director Massimiliano Sfragara.

  • “For every new development, we follow an interdisciplinary process which allows us to leverage synergies of the group to offer a full package in different channels depending on the application,” Leon said.
  • Products released in 2025 include a configurable R290 chiller/heat pump system with up to 1MW (284.3TR) of cooling capacity, a transcritical CO2 booster with cooling capacities from 50 to 400kW (14.2 to 113.7TR) and a subcritical CO2 rack with 10 to 270kW (2.8‒76.8TR) cooling capacities.

Quotable: “No one else in the market today can offer 2.5MW in a 30m2 footprint,” Leon said.

“We can offer 2.5MW of cooling in a 30m2 [98ft2] package that ships on a standard low loader truck.”
