Madison Air Solution Set to Acquire ebm-papst

U.S.-based Madison Air Solutions has struck a $5.4 billion (€4.6 billion) deal to acquire ebm-papst. The German OEM is one of the biggest names in the HVAC&R industry for electronically commutated (EC) fans, and it has recently moved into compressors with the CompaNamic turbo propane (R290) compressor. Madison Air is a collection of brands specializing in air purification, climate control and cooling.

“We are excited to join an organization that values our people, our culture and our technology, and we look forward to what we can accomplish together,” said Klaus Geiβdörfer, CEO of ebm-papst, in a press statement.

Dierberg’s Opens Grocery Store with CO2 Refrigeration System

American grocer Dierbergs Markets recently opened a new location in Saint Charles, Missouri, that features a CO2 (R744) refrigeration system. The new store is 73,000ft2 (6,782m2) and is the company’s second store using CO2 announced this year. Dierberg’s new store is its 29th location, all of which are located in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

A.O. Smith Releases New CO2 Hot Water Heat Pump for the U.S.

A.O. Smith has released the Voltex X outdoor split heat pump water heat using CO2 refrigerant that produces domestic hot water. The new heat pump water heater was jointly developed with Panasonic and can operate in temperatures as low as −25°F (−31°C). The Voltex X has a heating capacity of 4.5kW (1.2TR), and A.O. Smith has plans to launch a larger 6kW (1.7TR) version.

German Glass Packaging Manufacturer to Install 3.5MW of Ammonia Heat Pumps

German glass packaging manufacturer Ardagh Glass Packaging-Europe will replace the flue gas furnace at its production facility in Obernkirchen with ammonia (R717) heat pumps. The two heat pumps have a combined heating capacity of 3.5MW (995TR) and will be fully operational by November. The waste heat will be captured and redirected toward the plant’s packaging area.
