Shanghai Highly, a Chinese manufacturer of CO2 (R744) and propane (R290) compressors for air conditioners, refrigerators and freezers, and residential heat pumps, has joined the NaturalRefrigerants.com marketplace as a gold partner.

Highly was founded in 1954 as a wooden box manufacturer. It entered the refrigeration sector in 1985 and established an auto parts company in 2020. Shanghai Highly operates in 12 countries, has more than 20 R&D centers across Asia, Europe and North America and employs more than 14,000 people. The company built its 100-millionth air-conditioning compressor in 2009.

In 2023, Danish OEM Danfoss signed an agreement with Highly enabling it to offer the Chinese company’s propane rotary compressors for residential heat pumps and some refrigeration applications.

“Combined with our extensive application support, testing and simulation capacities, and understanding of the continuously evolving environmental product standards, refrigerant transition and energy efficiency requirements, this will support our vision of becoming a long-term all-in-one solution provider for residential heat pumps,” said Danfoss’s SVP of Scroll and Reciprocating Compressors, Fabio Klein.
