Italian manufacturer Clivet, part of the Chinese Midea Group, has expanded its air-to-water reversible propane (R290) heat pump line to include the Edge Pro L, offering capacities of 25 and 30kW (7.1 and 8.5TR) for light commercial and centralized residential applications.

“Water production at up to 85°C [185°F] enables integration with existing high-temperature systems, such as radiators, making it ideal for renovation projects,” Clivet said. “It operates in outdoor temperatures running from −25 to 43°C [−13 to 109°F].”

The outdoor Edge Pro L monobloc builds on the manufacturer’s residential Edge Pro R290 series, which was released in June 2025. The residential line produces outlet temperatures of up to 80°C (176°F) and is available in 12 sizes, covering capacities ranging from 4 to 16kW (1.1 to 4.5TR).

Specification details: The Edge Pro L heat pump provides heating, cooling and domestic hot-water production, using a scroll compressor with enhanced-vapor-injection (EVI) technology.

  • With a propane refrigerant charge of 2.9kg, the EVI technology achieves an SCOP of up to 4.95 at a water-outlet temperature of 35°C (95°F) and an SCOP of 3.84 at a water-outlet temperature of 55°C (131°F), according to Clivet.
  • In air-conditioning applications with chilled water at 7/12°C (45/54°F), Edge Pro L delivers an EER of up to 3.1 in ambient temperatures up to 35°C.
  • The unit is guaranteed by Clivet to maintain its rated heating capacity in ambient temperatures as low as −10°C (14°F).

Flexible installation: Using smart cascade management, Clivet’s control logic enables combining up to six Eco Pro L units for a total capacity of 180kW (51.2TR).

  • The units are engineered for easy maintenance, with new standard components providing safety and reliability, the company said.

Higher capacities: In 2024 Clivet launched its Thunder series of air-cooled reversible R290 heat pumps for commercial applications, featuring inverter scroll-compressor technology.

  • The line, available in seven sizes, covers capacities from 35 to 73kW (10 to 20.8TR).
  • It generates hot water at up to 75°C (167°F) in ambient conditions from −20 to 42°C (−4 to 108°F), with a heating COP of up to 3.19 and a cooling EER of up to 2.86.
  • The modular design allows up to 16 units to be combined in parallel.

Quotable: “Edge Pro L stands out for its clean and elegant aesthetic, which earned the iF Design Award 2025 and the Red Dot Design Award 2025,” Clivet said. “With [our] smart controls and the Clivet Eye app, you can monitor and manage [it] wherever you are, easily and intuitively.”

“Water production at up to 85°C [185°F] enables integration with existing high-temperature systems, making it ideal for renovation projects.”
