The 9th Global Conference, co-hosted by IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol and Kenya’s Minister of Energy, will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 21 to 23 May 2024. This marks the first year on the African continent, reflecting IEA’s partnership with Kenya. Kenya recently joined as an Association country. The event, in 2024, will consolidate progress towards doubling energy efficiency by 2030 – a COP28 outcome. Energy efficiency is crucial for addressing climate change, affordability, security, and access. The Global Conference aims to boost ambition for a clean energy transition. It spans three days with workshops, roundtables, and high-level discussions, focusing on action-oriented solutions for global clean energy challenges. These solutions aim to enhance efficiency, access, and affordability, putting people at the center of the transition.
