As part of its U.K. framework appointment by Procure Plus, Viessmann Climate Solutions, a division of Carrier Global Corporation, is providing propane (R290)-based heat pumps for social housing and other public sector low- and zero-carbon projects.
Viessmann’s Vitocal 150-A and 250-A Pro, along with Carrier’s AquaSnap 30AWH-P and 61AQ, are part of the company’s natural refrigerant R290 product series available on the U.K. framework. Peter Spurway, Head of Key Accounts and Strategic Partnerships of Residential & Light Commercial EMEA at Carrier HVAC, shared these details with NaturalRefrigerants.com.
The £1.6 billion ($2.15 billion/€1.85 billion) U.K. framework provides means for social housing landlords and other public sector organizations to implement decarbonization measures, according to Procure Plus. Carrier acquired the German heat pump manufacturer from the Viessmann Group in 2024.
U.K. listed: The four-year framework splits decarbonization technologies into 16 lots, covering installation and maintenance.
- Viessmann and Carrier products were selected for five different lots, including up to 15kW (4.3TR) air-source heat pumps (Lot 2); over 16kW (4.5TR) air-source heat pumps (Lot 3); up to 15kW ground-source heat pumps (Lot 5); over 16kW ground-source heat pumps (Lot 6); and hot water cylinders (Lot 4).
R290 specifications: The Viessmann and Carrier monobloc air source propane heat pumps selected for the framework cover residential, multi-family and commercial applications.
- The wall-mounted residential Vitocal 150-A series is compatible with existing radiators and offers heating capacities from 2.1 to 14.9kW (0.6 to 4.2TR).
- For multi-family dwellings and commercial applications, the Vitocal 250-A Pro series provides heating, cooling and hot water, with a single unit delivering up to 39.5kW (11.2TR) of heating capacity and 26kW (7.4TR) of cooling.
- The reversible AquaSnap 30AWH-P heat pump range features eight models, covering heating and cooling capacities from 4 to 14kW (1.1 to 4TR) for single-phase residential use and 12kW (3.4TR) to 14kW for three-phase commercial applications.
- The reversible AquaSnap 61AQ range covers heating capacities of 40–140kW (11.4–39.8TR) and cooling capacities of 32–105kW (9.1–29.9TR).
Additional products: “Various other product lines are available, and additional products which feature natural refrigerants will be added as the framework progresses,” Spurway said.
- Carrier’s HeatCO2OL line includes a water-to-water CO2 (R744) heat pump designed for hydronic heating and domestic hot water, with heating capacities ranging from 40 to 250 kW and cooling capacities from 30 to 200 kW.
