Shinwa Controls Joins NaturalRefrigerants.com as Silver Partner

The Japanese manufacturer specializes in advanced refrigeration chillers, precision air-conditioning equipment and valve products.

Shinwa Controls, a Japanese manufacturer of temperature control technologies, has joined the world’s leading natural refrigerant HVAC&R stakeholders as a silver partner of the NaturalRefrigerants.com marketplace.

Headquartered in Kanagawa and established in 1967, Shinwa Controls specializes in refrigeration chillers, precision air-conditioning systems and valve products. While primarily serving the semiconductor industry, the company also caters to sectors such as medical, hydrogen, aerospace and, more recently, pharmaceutical and AI-related industries.

At the forefront of the company’s efforts is its nitrogen (N2)-based chiller unit, Oberon, developed to address several environmental and regulatory challenges.

“Recent environmental regulations have led to restrictions on materials crucial to our products,” explained Shinwa Controls. “As a result, our industry is undergoing significant changes. In response, we have swiftly addressed the industry’s evolving needs by developing Oberon, a non-fluorocarbon ultra-low temperature chiller.”

According to the company, Oberon is the world’s smallest ultra-low temperature chiller, offering precise temperature control with a wide range of operating temperatures from −80 to 50°C (−112 to 122°F). At −80°C, Oberon delivers a cooling capacity of 8kW (2.3 TR), making it an efficient solution for industries requiring extreme cooling.

Moreover, Oberon is designed for optimal energy efficiency.

“By using the reverse Brayton cycle and Shinwa’s unique control technology, significant energy savings of over 30% [have been] achieved compared to conventional vapor compression technology,” the manufacturer said.

Developed in collaboration with Mayekawa, Oberon is currently available in North America, Europe, Japan and South Korea.
