Danish manufacturer Advansor, part of the Dover Corporation, has announced an “enhanced” version of its CO2 (R744)-based CuBig II that offers 50% more cooling and heating capacity.

The CuBig II offers cooling, freezing, heating and air-conditioning all in one package, with the update pushing the unit’s medium-temperature (MT) capacity from 400 to 600kW (113 to 170TR) and its heating capacity from 650 to 850kW (184 to 241TR). In addition, Advansor said that the low-temperature (LT) performance has been optimized to “ensure stability under higher MT loads.”

“The LT capacity no longer drops as aggressively, which means improved simultaneous cooling for MT and LT circuits,” said Kenneth Madsen, CTO of Advansor, in a press release. “The wider operating envelope supports more diverse load combinations, reducing design constraints and improving adaptability.”

The CuBig II is designed for large supermarkets and cold storage facilities and is also “ideal” as a heat pump for commercial and industrial applications, according to Advansor.

Additional details: The CuBig II has a maximum low-temperature capacity of 330kW (93TR), a maximum air-conditioning capacity of 180kW (51TR) and a maximum heat recovery capacity of 850kW.

Product evolutions: In addition to the CuBig II update, Advansor has also released new versions of its CO2-based ValuePack and Steel XL rack in the past year.

  • Advansor launched a new version of its SteelXL rack in January 2025 with a maximum cooling capacity of 2.7MW (767TR), 1.9MW (540TR) of freezing, up to 4MW (1,137TR) of heating and 0.5MW (142TR) of air-conditioning, all on one frame.
  • That same month the company launched an upgrade of its ValuePack refrigeration unit, raising the standard operating pressure to 130bar (1,885psi) from 120bar (1,740psi). The enhancement was designed to facilitate higher cooling capacities and improve operational efficiency and safety, according to Advansor, while also enabling the unit to be used for cold storage and light industrial applications, in addition to food retail.

Quotable: “The larger capacity range often correlates with optimized compressor staging and reduced energy consumption per kW delivered,” said Madsen. “All of this gives our customers greater flexibility and performance.”
