Record Joins NaturalRefrigerants.com as Gold Partner

The Italian company manufactures valves for CO2– and propane-based refrigeration systems.

Record, an Italian manufacturer of valves and metal findings for CO2 (R744)- and propane (R290)-based refrigeration systems, has joined the world’s leading natural refrigerant HVAC&R stakeholders as a gold partner of the NaturalRefrigerants.com marketplace.

Founded in 1946, Record originally manufactured air valves for tires. Over the subsequent decades, the company expanded into other applications where preventing the leak of gas or air was crucial. In 2006, Record patented its first valve core for a thermo hydraulic system using CO2 gas in high pressures, and, in 2014, it filed patents for valve cores for R290- and R744-based systems in residential and industrial applications.

According to the manufacturer, these products were the first to be designed specifically for natural refrigerants, and their market share has consistently grown over the past decade.

“The introduction of new gases and natural refrigerants has presented different challenges compared to air and other traditional fluids in terms of temperatures and pressures,” Record told NaturalRefrigerants.com. “Thanks to internal production and constant communication with customers, Record has been able to move quickly and design and develop products that can respond to the new demands from the market.”

Record’s valves for hydrocarbon systems are designed for use with propane and isobutane (R600) and are compliant with ISO 14903, which specifies the tightness of sealing parts for refrigeration systems.

With an operating pressure of up to 60 bar (870psi), static resistance up to 200 bar (2,900psi) and temperature thresholds of −40 to 150°C (−40 to 302°F), the I/V29982PEU.ECO valve is guaranteed to provide a better and longer sealing mechanism than a normal valve core under more extreme temperatures and pressures, explained the manufacturer.

“Valve cores will be our focus on the NaturalRefrigerants.com marketplace,” Record said. “These tools ensure the absence of leakage and are the object of our patent. We have already launched the page for the hydrocarbon valve core, and soon we will also add our product designed for R744. We are also developing versions specifically aimed at the automotive air-conditioning market for R744 as well as lead-free versions of our products and accessories.”

Record says it handles the entire production process for its products, from the manufacturing of metal components to their automated assembly and testing, from its headquarters in Bonate Sotto, Lombardy.
