HC Heat-Exchangers, a South Africa-based manufacturer of coils and HVAC&R solutions, including CO2 (R744) and ammonia (R717) systems, has joined the world’s leading natural refrigerant HVAC&R stakeholders as a silver partner of the NaturalRefrigerants.com marketplace.

The company manufactures products for the commercial, industrial and retail sectors.

Established in 2001, the company joined the HC Group of Companies in 2020, after which it expanded into the international market.

“HC Group offers engineering solutions in design, manufacturing, installation, and after-sales service, specializing in the production of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment with end-to-end solutions through our contract partners,” HC says on its website.

The company claims to be the largest coil manufacturer in South Africa, with origins in building custom-made heat exchangers, mainly for the air-conditioning and mining sectors. It produces, among other things, coils for chilled and hot water exchange, steam, condensing, evaporation and dry coolers.

According to HC, the company’s refrigeration products include a “growing portfolio” of compressed systems, including the natural refrigerants CO2 and ammonia.

“As the market requirements change, [we] need to adapt to newer efficient technologies, and this is at the heart of our designs,” said Henk MacDonald, Managing Director of Projects at HC.

HC also offers air handling and rooftop units for the commercial and industrial air-conditioning markets.

“With our industry knowledge and a clear understanding of our customer’s applications, we deliver products tailored to exact requirements,” HC says. “[Our] flexibility allows us to thrive in both local and international markets [with] our standard and bespoke products.”

The HC Group employs over 400 people and operates in a 21,700m2 (234,000ft2) facility in Eastern Johannesburg.
