Energy Recovery to Showcase Pressure-Exchanger Device at FMI Energy and Store Development Conference

The PX G1300 can boost the energy efficiency of commercial and industrial CO2-based refrigeration systems, reducing energy consumption and costs.

Energy Recovery, a San Leandro, California-based manufacturer of pressure-exchanger devices, will showcase its PX G1300 energy recovery device at the FMI (Food Industry Association) Energy and Store Development Conference in Orlando, Florida, on September 19–21.

The conference will explore “key trends impacting food retail energy use and management, HVAC&R, store development and sustainability,” and offer suppliers and retailers an opportunity to connect at its Manufacturer Retailer Exchange (MRE) – two evening networking receptions.

Representatives from the company will hold tabletop demonstrations of the PX G1300’s energy saving capabilities at the MRE on September 19 and 20.

Boosting the efficiency of CO2 refrigeration

The PX G1300 is a pressure-exchanger device that maximizes the energy efficiency of commercial and industrial CO2 (R744)-based refrigeration systems to reduce their energy consumption.

According to the manufacturer, the device “allows for reduced load on compressors, thus lowering energy consumption and can even help lower capital expenditures.”

“The PX G1300 utilizes groundbreaking technology to help users reduce emissions, save energy and save money,” said Joseph Marchetti, CO2 Product Manager at Energy Recovery. “The innovative refrigeration racks aid in reducing energy consumption, in turn helping users lower operating costs and practice sustainable, natural refrigeration.”

Since 1992, Energy Recovery has been a “leader in the desalination industry,” using its pressure exchanger technology to help industry professionals save money and improve efficiency, specifically in seawater reverse osmosis desalination plants.

While Energy Recovery has only recently introduced its technology to the CO2 refrigeration market with products like the PX G1300, this technology has a “long history of success,” said the manufacturer.

Earlier in 2022, it was announced that Energy Recovery’s PX G1300 was to be employed at two supermarkets – one the retrofit of a Vallarta Supermarkets store in Indio, California, and the other a new store in Europe.

“What began as a revolutionary invention for desalination has grown into a global business accelerating the environmental sustainability of customers’ operations in multiple industries,” said Energy Recovery.
