Embraco and Beijer Ref Announce Renewal of Partnership

The companies say the new three-year agreement will cover the production and distribution of ‘sustainable refrigeration solutions’ on a global scale.

Brazilian refrigeration technology manufacturer Embraco, which is part of Nidec Global Appliance, and Beijer Ref, an international HVAC&R wholesaler and manufacturer, have announced the renewal of their partnership.

According to a statement from the companies, the new three-year agreement will cover the production and distribution of “sustainable refrigeration solutions” on a global scale. The partnership, which was first established in 2015, represents a long-lasting alliance that aims to strengthen their market positions, predominantly within the commercial refrigeration sector.

“Since the beginning of the agreement, Embraco and Beijer Ref have had expressive business growth across all the regions they cover,” said Daniel Campos, Commercial Appliances Vice President at Nidec Global Appliance. “With the partnership renewal, it will be possible to keep combining our high-quality, sustainable refrigeration solutions with the advantage of a distributor with a high level of capillarity.”

Embraco has traditionally been known for its hydrocarbon-based fixed- and variable-speed compressors; however, it is expanding its business to include condensing units and complete systems. The manufacturer’s products are sold in some 90 countries, including China.

Beijer Ref Group is present in 45 countries globally and has more than 150 subsidiaries, including SCM FrigoFenagy and SCM Ref.

“We are pleased to renew our long-established endeavor and expertise with Embraco and [are] satisfied with the agreements growing potential,” said Christopher Norbye, CEO of Beijer Ref. “This fruitful teamwork makes it possible to fortify our position worldwide and provide refrigeration technicians, installers and small OEMs with an extensive set of products.”

“Our task ahead is to expand our product offer and consolidate our leadership as a company [that] foresees the trends of the refrigeration market, while offering our customers the most complete product portfolio and serving them best,” added Campos.

Saving energy, time and money

As end users focus more on reducing their costs and carbon footprints, Embraco is positioning variable-speed technology as an energy, time and money saver.

According to recent studies, Embraco’s variable-speed compressors can reduce energy consumption by up to 42% compared to a similar-sized fixed-speed compressor. Due to these energy savings, the manufacturer has said end users are able to recover the costs difference between its variable-speed and fixed-speed compressors within six to twelve months.

The technology is also able to reduce the time it takes for a refrigerated cabinet to reach the necessary temperature after its door has been opened. In addition to reducing energy use, this also improves temperature stability and product preservation, reducing product losses.

Variable-speed compressors are more tolerant of voltage fluctuation, making them more robust in regions where electricity supply in unstable.
