Baltimore Aircoil to Showcase and Present on Adiabatic Systems at AHR Expo

BAC will feature its Trillium Adiabatic Cooler and discuss the fundamentals of adiabatic heat rejection at AHR Expo in Atlanta, Georgia, February 6-8.

The Maryland-based manufacturer Baltimore Aircoil Company (BAC) will showcase its CO2 (R744) adiabatic condenser/gas cooler, which is widely used in transcritical CO2 (R744) systems, and hybrid cooling solutions, and present on adiabatic heat rejection at the International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration Exposition (AHR Expo) to be held February 6-8 at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) in Atlanta, Georgia.

BAC invites the public to view and discuss its cooling systems and “immerse in an augmented reality experience” at booth #C6731 in Exhibit Hall C. The company’s adiabatic system, the TrilliumSeries Adiabatic Cooler, will be highlighted along with the Nexus Modular Hybrid Cooler.

BAC’s TrilliumSeries Adiabatic Cooler “seeks to serve demanding cooling applications where energy efficiency is paramount but water must be used sparingly in a single easy-to-install package,” said BAC. Of its Nexus Modular Hybrid Cooler, BAC declares it “a shift from legacy hybrid coolers,” and “the first intelligent, plug-and-play, modular hybrid fluid cooling system for HVAC and manufacturing applications.”

BAC published its first Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report in 2021. In that report, BAC noted, “Since 2015, users of the Trillium Condenser have reduced energy consumption by 5.7GWh, compared to dry cooler alternatives,” and “it can reduce the energy consumption of a CO2-based system by 18%.” BAC aims to reduce scope 1 (direct) and scope 2 (electrical use) by 50% by 2030.

At the Expo, BAC is scheduled to present on multiple topics concerning adiabatic heat rejection. Ben Cohen, Manager of Product Marketing at BAC, will speak on “The Fundamentals of Adiabatic Heat Rejection” on Monday, February 6 from 4:30-5:30 pm in room B308 at GWCC. Cohen’s presentation “will include how to compare different cooling systems, when adiabatic units are right for projects, and the different types of adiabatic coolers available,” said BAC. Cohen’s presentation is hosted by The Cooling Technology Institute (CTI).

In conjunction with the AHR Expo, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has its winter conference. As part of the conference, Stephen Kline (Products Application Manager at BAC) and Mihir Kalyani (Assistant Product Manager, Dry & Adiabatic Fluid Coolers at EVAPCO) will share their expertise on adiabatic heat rejection on February 7 from 9:45 AM-10:45 am in room A408 at GWCC in a seminar entitled “Adiabatic Heat Rejection: The New Happy Medium.”

Kline and Kalyani’s presentation, Seminar #42, is sponsored by ASHRAE’s Technical Committee 8.6, Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers. It will cover principles of operation, maintenance and operational benefits and the impact of codes and standards related to the growing technology of adiabatic heat rejection.
